For your safety and enjoyment of the SYC facilities, please observe the following:

◊ The Sherborn Yacht Club is on private property. We are guests and should act accordingly.

◊ Please leave bikes at the racks at the parking lot entrance.

◊ The Yacht Club boats are for use by SYC members and their guests only. The 420’s are available to qualified skippers over 12 years of age. Please follow the sign-out procedure for using boats.

◊ Members may have guests on the docks and take them sailing.

◊ Non-members must be accompanied by a member on the docks and in the boats.

◊ Please do not land a SYC boat on a private beach or the island.

◊ Life jackets (one per person) must be on board every boat. Children 16 and under are required to wear life jackets. Adults are strongly encouraged to wear life jackets.

◊ For safety, whistles should be worn by every boater and used to summon help if needed.

◊ Please wear shoes on the docks. This will help prevent splinters and stubbed or broken toes.

◊ Swimming off the dock to get moored boats is by permission of the staff only. No swimming off boats.

◊ There is no fishing from the SYC docks or SYC boats. You may fish at the boat ramp.

◊ No intentional capsizing.

◊ Use common sense; sailing is at your own risk.

◊ Do not sail during thunderstorms. If you hear thunder, return to the dock immediately. If you see lightening, head for the nearest shore.

◊ Do not sail in winds above your ability.

◊ We reserve the right to curtail sailing during high winds or storm conditions.

◊ In the absence of SYC notification, use of club boats during high winds or storm conditions is prohibited.

◊ When no staff is present, anyone under the age of 16 must have adult supervision.

◊ When you are finished sailing, please secure the boat properly and put all equipment away in the proper place.

◊ Please take all trash with you. Leave the area neat and clean.

◊ Members shall follow all rules of the Sherborn Yacht Club & assume all risks and liabilities associated with sailing, racing and activities on and around the dock. Parents assume all risks and liabilities for their minor children.

◊ For the safety and enjoyment of all, members shall follow all directions by Sherborn Yacht Club Directors and Staff.

◊ Failure to observe the rules could result in temporary removal from the premises & loss of privileges.
